Special Education Services
Welcome to the Orinda Union Special Education Department which is housed under the Student Services Department.
The Special Education Department includes a variety of services, supports and programs dedicated to ensuring equitable access and success for students with disabilities. Services and supports are based on each student's need and eligibility as outlined by Federal and State law. The District is committed to ensuring that a continuum of services is provided that meet the unique needs of individual students. Services are provided for eligible students beginning at age 3. For more information on this process please click on the OUSD Parent/Guardian Handbook for Navigating Special Education link below.
All schools in Orinda USD have a resource program called the Instructional Support Program (ISP). Wagner Ranch houses our elementary Special Day Class (SDC) and OIS has an inclusion program. An itinerant inclusion specialist supports students at the elementary schools. Related services are provided by the District, SELPA, and the Contra Costa County Office of Education. Our Early Intervention Program (EIP) is housed in Moraga.
We look forward to partnering with you to support your child.
