Department Overview

The Orinda Union School District Facilities, Maintenance & Operations Department is responsible for maintaining safe, clean, functional, and welcoming learning environments for students, staff, and the community.

The department oversees the maintenance and operation of District facilities and grounds, custodial services, facility improvements, construction and modernization projects, regulatory compliance, and long-term facilities planning.

Our team works collaboratively with school sites, District departments, contractors, and community partners to maintain and improve OUSD facilities while supporting the educational needs of our students and staff.

Department Responsibilities

The Facilities, Maintenance & Operations Department is responsible for:

Facilities Maintenance: Preventive maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of District buildings and building systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other facility infrastructure.
Grounds & Outdoor Facilities: Maintenance of landscaping, fields, playgrounds, hardscape areas, and other exterior spaces.
Custodial Services: Cleaning, sanitation, and general upkeep of classrooms, offices, restrooms, and common areas throughout the District.
Construction & Modernization: Planning and coordination of facility improvements, renovations, modernization projects, and new construction.
Facilities Planning: Long-term planning for District facilities, including implementation of facility improvement priorities and capital projects.
Health, Safety & Compliance: Coordination of facility-related regulatory and safety programs, including fire and life safety, environmental compliance, hazardous materials, and Integrated Pest Management.
Facility Use: Coordination and oversight of community use of District facilities in accordance with District policies and procedures.
Energy & Utilities: Monitoring facility systems, utilities, and energy use to support efficient and reliable District operations.
