5K Fun Run ad

15th Annual JF Kapnek 5/K Fun Run

Supports Education and Wellness for Zimbabwe Children

The 15th annual JF Kapnek Trust Family Fun run will take place at 9:00am on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at Miramonte High School (750 Moraga Way).

The event supports early childhood education, nutrition and AIDS treatment and prevention programs for children and families in Zimbabwe.  

Along with a 5K run and a 1K children’s run or walk, event participants will enjoy music, arts & crafts, food and prizes for the top finishers including certificates from Dick’s Sporting Goods, and Sports Basement.  And all participants will receive a commemorative t-shirt. Strollers welcome!

Other sponsors this year include Dudum Real Estate, Diablo Foods, Diablo Valley Onocology, Oakwood Athletic Club, Bryan Silveira/State Farm Insurance, Square Baby, Mindful Littles, Peets Coffee, Noah’s Bagels and Orinda Fitness.

Lamorinda Idol 2019 is coming up!

Audition registration opens April 1st and runs through April 30th, and anyone who is in kindergarten through 12th grade living in Lafayette, Moraga, or Orinda is eligible to try out. Auditions are being held May 9th – May 11th and singers will be judged by a panel of community members who are experienced musical performers. Finalists and runners up will have fun opportunities throughout the summer for workshops (led by Rena Wilson, co-owner of the Performing Academy) and will also have the opportunity to perform at summer community events such as Orinda Park and Lafayette Plaza concerts and the Orinda Fourth of July Parade.
