Featured Student Art Work

{arts} With generous financial support from the Education Foundation of Orinda and school site parent's clubs, Orinda students experience an integrated and enriching arts

program.

Our credentialed art and music teachers provide weekly instruction to students k-5 in both performing and visual arts. Our Orinda Intermediate School students are offered a full complement of visual and performing arts courses to expand their skills and thinking.

We are thankful for the countless volunteer hours provided

by OASIS, Orinda Arts council, community members and parents.

CalShakes Partners with Orinda Union School District

The California Shakespeare Festival is excited to offer the Orinda Union School District (OUSD)

a community partnership which is unique in the company's history. Numerous studies have demonstrated that effective arts education programming enhances student achievement

across the curriculum, leading to better grades and higher test scores for participating

students. In addition, other less tangible benefits such as increased self esteem and

improved teamworking skills have been noted.

A pilot program has been launched for the school year between the California Shakespeare Festival and Orinda Intermediate School (OIS). Some of the programs at OIS will include a Student Discovery Matinee Series and enhanced curriculum with training from a Cal Shakes Teaching Artist in advanced drama and beginning drama classes.

The California Shakespeare Festival hopes to refine and perfect this partnership with

OUSD over time and use it as a model which can later be replicated with other community partners
